* the syllabus of the ryu-ha is evolving following the studies carried out in Okinawa
Okinawa-den Koyamaryu™®Kobujutsu is not an invented style, it's a ryu-ha founded by Prof. Angelo Bonanno and recognized under the Kokusai Bujutsu Bunka Renmei (Japan). Okinawa-den Koyamaryu is a school of Okinawan karate and kobudo based on the old family system called Kojoryu, they have the same core kata and ideas.
Prof. Bonanno decided to found his own style on 2020, after over 30 years of training in karate (he is 8th dan Kyoshi), to continue his research in old Okinawa-Te systems and also in the roots of the same Kojoryu that derive from the old Kuninda-di and chuan-fa styles, like Bai He quan, Xing Yi quan, etc.
The name Koyamaryu™® 湖山流 derives from the union of two kanji taken from the double nomenclature Kojoryu • Shinzanryu™® which is actually used to identify the school of Prof. Bonanno, so it simply appears as a sort of abbreviation of this double nomenclature.
The double nomenclature is used in honor of Prof. Bonanno's two main Okinawan teachers and in honor of the ancient style of the famous Kojo family.
